Mental Health & Support Resources
Find information and support when you need it
You may be looking for information for yourself, concerned about someone you care about, or trying to work out where to seek support.
I have brought together these resources to help you find reliable information and relevant support services more easily.
You do not need to be a client of mine to use these resources.
Need Urgent Help?
If you or someone else is in immediate danger in Australia, call 000.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, emotional distress or thoughts of suicide, crisis support is available.
Lifeline: 13 11 14 — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
My practice is not a crisis or emergency service. Emails, enquiry forms and appointment requests are not monitored continuously.
Find the Support You Need
Different situations call for different kinds of support. Choose the section that is most relevant to what you are looking for.
Support when suicidal thoughts or concerns arise
If you are experiencing thoughts of suicide, or are concerned about someone you care about, having a safety plan can help you identify warning signs, things that may help you cope, and people or services you can contact when you need support.
You can also find information about the Beyond Now suicide safety planning app and other crisis support services.
Information when you are concerned about a child
It can be difficult to know what to do when you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person.
This section provides information about child safety concerns, reporting options and services that can provide further guidance and support.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 000.
Information, safety and specialist support
Family and domestic violence can take different forms. It may involve physical or sexual violence, emotional or psychological abuse, financial abuse, threats, intimidation, stalking or patterns of coercive control.
If something in a relationship does not feel safe, you do not need to have a label for what is happening before seeking information or support.
This section provides information about family and domestic violence, safety considerations and specialist services that may be able to assist you or someone you care about.
Specialist information and support
If you have experienced sexual violence, recently or in the past, support is available.
You may also be looking for information because you are concerned about someone else.
This section provides links to specialist services offering counselling, crisis support, medical care and information about available options.
You do not have to make every decision at once. You can seek information and support while considering what feels appropriate for your circumstances.
Other places to find help and support
Sometimes you may need support outside regular counselling appointments, while waiting for an appointment, or for someone else in your life.
This section brings together mental health helplines, community services and other sources of support that may be useful for you, a family member or someone you care about.
Information to help you understand what you may be experiencing
Sometimes you are not looking for an emergency service. You may simply want to understand something better before deciding what to do next.
Here you can explore information about mental health, relationships, counselling, psychotherapy, trauma and other experiences that can affect emotional wellbeing and everyday life.
These articles are intended to provide clear and accessible information rather than tell you what you should do.
Using These Resources
The information on these pages is provided for general information and support. It is not intended to replace individual assessment, professional advice, medical care or emergency assistance.
Everyone’s circumstances are different. A service or resource that is appropriate for one person may not be appropriate for another.
External organisations listed on this website operate independently of my practice. Their services, eligibility requirements, opening hours and contact details may change. Where possible, links are provided directly to the relevant organisation so that you can check the most current information.
Your Privacy & Safety Online
If you are looking for information about family violence, sexual violence or another situation where someone may be monitoring your phone, computer or online activity, consider whether it is safe to access these resources from your current device.
Where possible, you may wish to use a device that the other person cannot access and seek advice from a specialist support service about digital safety.
Not Sure Where to Start?
You do not need to read everything on this page.
Choose the section that seems most relevant to what is happening for you now.
If you are looking for counselling or psychotherapy rather than crisis support, you can learn more about my services or make a brief enquiry.
If you need urgent or immediate support, please use the crisis and emergency services above rather than waiting for a response from my practice.
