Phuong Tran Social Media Policy
This document outlines policies regarding the use of social media by Phuong Tran, a mental health professional, and provides guidelines on how interactions on the Internet will be handled.
Introduction
This policy aims to clarify how I conduct myself online and how interactions between us on the Internet are managed. If you have any questions about this policy, feel free to discuss them during our sessions. As technology evolves, updates to this policy may occur, with revised versions posted on this site and communicated to current clients.
Friending/Following/Adding as a Contact
I maintain an online presence on various social media platforms under my full name, Phuong Thi Uyen Tran, or my English name Teresa Tran, or under the username Phuong Tran. This ensures transparency regarding my representation of both my business and myself. I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site to maintain confidentiality and respect boundaries.
Exceptions may apply if a friend status predates our counselling/psychotherapy relationship, necessitating a dual relationship agreement. However, I refrain from following clients on social media to prevent potential boundary issues and maintain the integrity of our therapeutic relationship. Viewing your online activities without consent may compromise confidentiality and will not be undertaken unless necessary for your welfare.
Interacting
Please refrain from using social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Slack, Instagram, or LinkedIn to contact me, except for appointment-related inquiries if offered through these platforms. These sites are not secure, and messages may not be read promptly. Public engagement with me online may compromise confidentiality and become part of your legal medical record.
Use of Search Engines
I do not routinely search for clients online unless in exceptional circumstances, such as during a crisis. I prioritize your privacy and trust between us, avoiding potential alterations to our therapeutic relationship. If you have online activity you wish to discuss, feel free to bring it up during our sessions.
Discovering/Viewing My Online Activity
If you come across my online content, including blogs, courses, or social media accounts, please feel free to discuss any impact it may have on our work together. Your comfort and safety are paramount, and open communication is encouraged.
Business Review Sites
While you may find my practice listed on review sites, please refrain from posting testimonials or endorsements. Confidentiality prevents me from responding to such reviews, maintaining your privacy. Feel free to share your feelings about our work directly with me during our sessions.
Location-Based Services
Be cautious when using location-based services, as they may inadvertently reveal your therapy attendance. GPS tracking and location sharing may pose privacy risks, potentially compromising confidentiality.
Email and Texting
Email is preferred for appointment arrangements and administrative purposes. Text messaging is reserved for appointment-related inquiries during business hours. All electronic communications are part of your legal record and should be used with caution.
Conclusion
This social media policy outlines guidelines for online interactions to ensure confidentiality, privacy, and ethical practice. Your understanding and adherence to these guidelines are appreciated.
