Beyond Now – A Free Suicide Safety Planning Tool
If you are feeling overwhelmed, struggling to cope, or experiencing suicidal thoughts, having a clear and supportive plan can make a real difference. Beyond Now is a free suicide safety planning app developed by Lifeline Australia, designed to support people during moments of emotional distress. It is also helpful for carers, family members, and friends supporting someone they care about.

What is the Beyond Now app?
Beyond Now is a personalised safety planning app that helps you prepare for times when emotions feel intense and thinking clearly becomes difficult. The app guides you step by step to create a simple, easy-to-follow safety plan that you can access anytime and anywhere. It is private, practical, and designed to be completed at your own pace.

People experiencing emotional distress or suicidal thoughts People who feel overwhelmed or struggling to cope Carers, family members, or friends supporting someone at risk Individuals wanting extra support alongside counselling or mental health care
Key features of the Beyond Now app
Your personalised safety plan helps you to:
Recognise early warning signs by noticing changes in thoughts, feelings, or behaviours Increase safety during vulnerable moments by identifying ways to reduce risk in your environment Use coping and distraction strategies, such as grounding exercises, activities, or people you can connect with Reconnect with strengths and reasons for living, reminding you of what matters and what helps you keep going
Built-in crisis support
Beyond Now includes a one-touch emergency call button that allows you to quickly contact nominated support people or crisis services if you need urgent help. You can create your plan on your own or with support from a trusted person, such as a peer worker, Elder, GP, family member, or mental health professional. Sharing your safety plan with someone you trust can also increase safety and support.
How to download the Beyond Now app
Beyond Now is free to download and use.
You can download the app by:
Opening the Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your phone or tablet Searching for “Beyond Now – Lifeline” Tapping Download and following the prompts
You can also access Beyond Now online through a web browser on your desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile device.
